Our President's Welcome

Welcome SEATCA Attendees!

On behalf of all your retired teacher colleagues, as President of MHADRTA—Medicine Hat And District Retired Teachers Association—it is with great pleasure that I welcome all active teachers to your first virtual SEATCA Teachers’ Convention.  Not only is it virtual, but this is the first year that SEATCA and SWATCA have teamed up for a joint Southern Alberta Teachers’ Convention. Some of my retired teacher colleagues will be joining you in some of the sessions. I see that some of the presenters are retired teachers, as well.

During all my many years of attending Teachers’ Conventions in Medicine Hat, I always enjoyed meeting my friends and colleagues from other schools and districts/divisions. Even as a retired teacher, I enjoyed attending the convention annually.  The social aspect, collegiality and professional development that occurred were all an important part of the convention.  School art displays and exhibitors rounded out a perfect convention.

The line-up of presenters is an excellent one. I wish each and every one of you a wonderful convention. Enjoy the two days. When you return to your classroom on Monday, you will feel refreshed and rejuvenated.

Mel Deydey,
President, MHADRTA
